Gabriela Casas Medina, age 55, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.

Born on March 24, 1970, in Mexico City, Mexico, Gabriela was the beloved daughter of Bartolo Casas Lara and Amelia Medina Rodia. She was a devoted member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, where she found comfort and strength in her faith.

Gabriela was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt whose kindness and warmth touched all who knew her. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and her caring spirit. She was a strong person who survived a lot and is now resting.

She is survived by her husband, Jesus Alonso Diaz; her daughter, Dayanara Alonso Casas; her son, Edwin Casas; her sisters, Marcela Casas and husband Ulises Reyes, Mary Casas, and Vicky Casas; her nephew, Alex Reyes; and special family members, Erica Gonzales and Natalie Reyes.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.

Gabriela will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
