Freddie L. Thompson, age 78, passed away on Thursday March 6, 2025 at Cape Fear Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. He was born on October 7, 1946 to the late James R. Thompson and Rosalie Holland Thompson. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Thompson and a special aunt, Clarabel Holland.

Mr. Thompson will lie in state on Tuesday March 11, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday March 12, 2025 in Holland Family Cemetery in Micro.

Freddie graduated from Micro High School in 1964. He was a Vietnam veteran and retired from the United States Air Force as a SMSGT in 1992. He later retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections. He was a member of Micro OFWB Church, VFW and the American Legion.

He is survived by a sister, Betty Kay Cross of Stanton, VA and a brother, Doug Thompson of Hope Mills, NC; 4 nieces and 3 nephews.
