Francine Fitzgerald
Bizzell
January 9, 1950 – July 5, 2025
Wanda "Francine" Fitzgerald Bizzell, age75, of Micro, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 9, 1950, on the day of her parents' 7th wedding anniversary. She was a daughter of Roger William Fitzgerald and Flora Mae Jordan Fitzgerald Godwin.
Fran is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Jerry Wayne Bizzell, and her devoted daughters and sons-in-love: Shannon VanVliet (Brian), Sheri Graham (Jarret), and Sandee Hales (Ryan). "Granny Fran" was loved by her five grandchildren: Evan and Reid Graham, and Hannah, Blythe, and Ameiah Hales.
Near and dear to her heart were her surviving sisters: Carolyn Jernigan of Spivey's Corner, Jenny Pittman (Tom) of Wilson; and her sisters-in-love: Sandra Pearce of Selma, Pat Finnell of Smithfield and Barabara Smith (Glenn) of Princeton; and many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved brother, "Gene" Fitzgerald; her husband's parents, E.O. and Thelma Bizzell; brothers-in-love, Lee Jernigan, Glenn Bizzell and Ashworth Pearce, and her sisters-in-love: Grace Walston and Gail Reynolds.
Fran's most rewarding callings in life were caring for her nephews, nieces, and cousins and making memories by hosting large family gatherings. She always had a creative eye and expressed her creativity and talents in many ways over the years. One of her early ventures was opening and running "Fran's Gift Gallery" in Pine Level. She also loved tying bows and designing arrangements at Carolina Pottery in Smithfield with her friend, Ila Grey Hayes Bizzell, who later became her stepmother-in-love. She also enjoyed designing fresh floral arrangements at Smithfield City Florist for over 15 years where she garnered several florist friends who felt like family. Everyone will best remember her love of Christ and passion for all things CHRISTmas! She spent many hours cultivating flowers, and now, we find peace and comfort in the assurance she is walking in Christ's eternal garden.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to family, friends, Hinnant Outreach Center, and Hospice of Wilson. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hinnant Outreach Center of Micro Original Free Will Baptist Church at P.O. Box 367, Micro, NC 27555 or Hospice of Wilson at 1901 Tarboro St, Suite 301, Wilson, NC 27893.
A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Micro Original Free Will Baptist Church, visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial service will follow, weather permitting, at Gaston Fitzgerald Cemetery, 5925 Hinnant-Edgerton Rd, Selma, NC 27576.
