Florine Yelverton Cooper, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 5, 2025, in Smithfield. Born February 2, 1938, in Micro, she was the daughter of the late John Ivey Yelverton and Thelma Perkins Yelverton. In addition to her parents, Florine was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Melvin Cooper; brother, Eugene Yelverton; sister, Judy Pennington, and an infant sister.

Florine was a follower of Christ and a faithful member of Faith FWB Church. In her spare time, she loved gardening. Florine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who will be missed immensely. The family is comforted knowing Florine has been reunited with her husband Willie (married almost 54 years) and is rejoicing in Heaven with her Savior.

Florine is survived by her sons, Bruce Cooper and David Cooper (Betty); brother, Jake (Iris) Yelverton; grandchildren, Liz Cooper and Cynthia Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Jude, Thane, Reagan, and Madison.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 7:00pm in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, beginning at 6:00pm. Graveside service will follow on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 10:00am, at Selma Memorial Gardens.
