Eric Glenwood Godwin, age 77, of Selma, passed away on May 14, 2023. Born in Johnston County on January 21, 1946, he was the son of the late Eardith Glenwood and Cora Elizabeth Parker Godwin. He was also preceded in death by two sisters Peggy Higgins and Phyllis Watson. Eric served in the U. S. Army and was deployed to Vietnam from 1966-1967.

Eric made friends all over North Carolina throughout his work years. He worked as a field foreman at Caledonia Prison before focusing on the telecommunications field. Eric retired as a PBX Technician with AT&T. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church near Kenly. Eric enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his son Eddie, his cousins and friends.

The family will receive family and friends at Parrish Funeral Home on Sunday, May 28 from 2-3 pm. A funeral service is scheduled at 3pm and burial with military honors will follow at the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

Eric is survived by his wife, Susan Smith Godwin; his son Eddie (Andrea) and their children Ava and Kate; daughter Tammy Hebert (Davis) and their children Austin and Elizabeth; his sisters, Marietha Peacock (Harold), Janie Peedin (Roy), and Pam Parker (J.W.); and Susan's siblings, Vivian Caldwell (Bill), Annell Beasley, Becky Phillips, Kenneth Smith (Barbara) and Teresa Foster.
