Mary Eloise Godwin Greene, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Wake Med Hospital in Raleigh. Born in Johnston County on January 25, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Godwin and Lula Munn Godwin.

Eloise worked at Godwin drug store of Pine Level as a teenager, which was owned by her father. She was valedictorian of her high school class and a cheerleader in her younger days. She attended East Carolina University and met her future husband while attending. Eloise served as a school teacher in the Raleigh and Sanford areas for many years. Eloise's love of flowers led to her starting the business Greene Acres Plant Farm in Raleigh. She enjoyed gardening and crafting, she was a great cook and an animal lover. Eloise enjoyed watching church services from Hayes Barton Church of Raleigh. Eloise was a kind and caring woman who never easily gave up.

A small service will be held in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 17, 2023. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Carlyle Greene.

Eloise is survived by her son, David Greene and wife Amy of Creedmoor; daughters, Sheri Greene of Raleigh, Lisa White and husband Eddie of Apex, and Jennifer Bittner of Wake Forest; Eloise has 6

grandchildren, Jacob White of Apex, Barrett White of Apex, step-granddaughter Rianne Kanas of Creedmoor, Ryan Greene of Creedmoor, Caitlyn Bittner of Wake Forest, and Amber Bittner of Wake Forest.
