Smithfield -Eloise Joyner Blackman, age 94, passed away Friday February 17, 2023 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield. She was born in Wayne County on November 29, 1928 to the late John Joyner and Lou Elna Westbrook Joyner. In addition to her mother and father, she is also preceded in death by soul mate, Cecil Aycock; son, James Douglas Blackman; son in law, Mickey Phillips; brother, Nathan Joyner.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Monday February 20, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM. A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday February 21, 2023 at 2 PM in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home.  Burial will follow the service in Selma Memorial Gardens.

Eloise is survived by daughters, Dianne Creech and husband George of Smithfield, Lou Phillips of Durham; daughter in law Debra Lynn Braswell and husband Jimmy of Smithfield; grandchildren, Chris Blackman and wife Sharon, Kimberly Hines and husband Greg, Dale Phillips and wife Tracy, Tina Hairr and husband Chris, Michelle McGinnis and husband Patrick; great grandchildren, Zach Parrish, Ambyr Phillips, Hunter Blackman, Lyndsy Parrish, Kyle Hairr, Dylan Blackman, Chanderson Phillips.

Eloise was a charter member at Asbury UMC in Smithfield and enjoyed shopping, movies, and traveling to the beach and the mountains.
