Elizabeth Whitley Jones "Lib", 94 of Smithfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Forsyth Medical Center on October 13, 2023. She was born July 22, 1929 in Smithfield, to John Oscar and Nora Southard Whitley of Brogden. She was the last of nine siblings. She served her Lord faithfully as a charter member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Smithfield and also a member of Bethesda Baptist Church in Clayton NC.

Lib worked at Jerold Corporation, Fieldcrest and Champion for many years. She was most happy when she was surrounded by family, especially her sixteen Grandchildren, twenty-two Great Grandchildren and two Great Great Grandchildren.  She always had a big smile. Moms favorite things were caramel frappes from McDonald's, playing Phase 10 with anyone who would play with her, watching birds and planes and especially loved looking at her flowers.

She was proceeded in death by her husband of 63 years, Roy Allen Jones also a son, John Renegar Current of Winston-Salem, NC. She is survived by her sons, James William Current of Dobson, Robert Allen Jones (Brenda) of Smithfield, Daughters, Sue Jones Rizoti (Robert) of Clemmons, Jan Jones Barnes (Will) of Smithfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 215 E Caroline Ave, Smithfield, NC 27577.

A private celebration of life will be held for the family at a later date.
