Selma – Edmond Willis Jr., age 82, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in his home of Selma, surrounded by his family. Born, January 1, 1944, in Carteret County, he was a son of the late Edmond Willis Sr. and Evelyn Lovick Willis. He is preceded in death by his son, Edmond Willis III, son-in-law, Robert Williams and brother, James Earl Willis. Edmond was a member of Refuge Fellowship Pentecostal Holiness Church in Harker’s Island, NC. He was known as a simple man. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, working in his yard and cutting grass. He worked for many years as a golf course groundskeeper, a career that reflected his love for the outdoors. He was also mechanically gifted and could repair most any small engine. Most of all he loved his family and always enjoyed spending time with them.

The family will hold a private celebration at a later date.

Edmond is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mrs. Wanda Mitchum Willis; sons, Michael Garner (Pam) of Garner, Dyllon Mitchum and Darren Mitchum (Meredith); daughters, Gail Garner of Beaufort, Melissa Williams of the home, and Jennifer Seward of the home. He is also survived by his siblings, Lillie Ann Horne (Royce) of TX and Bessie Willis of the home, as well as many nieces and nephews.
