Edith Annette Childers, 64, of Selma, went to be with our Lord on Monday, September 7, 2026, surrounded by family.

Annette was a daughter of Daniel Webster and Gay Childers, who preceded her in death. Annette was the fifth child out of eight children, and although she had never married or had children, she was a great aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. She would spend time with all of them, taking them to parks, fairs, lakes, and other recreational activities. She would listen to them and give them advice when needed, even if they didn’t agree with her. They all have lots of memories that will keep her with them forever.

Annette spent a lot of her time making home videos that we are still enjoying today. She has also had a lot of longtime friendships that meant a lot to her.

Annette started working early at a skating rink in Wilson. She has worked at the Smithfield Herald and for many years at The Royal Inn, Village, and Days Inn under Hank Daniels. She also owned her own thrift store in Rolesville. She was known for having many yard sales at her home in Selma, up until her battle with cancer that she finally lost. Annette also had her close and beloved companion, Callie, who was always by her side. She would take Callie with her everywhere, including a night job she had of cleaning buildings in Raleigh. She will be missed by us all, but we will always carry her in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Annette is survived by her brothers and sisters, including: June Farrar of Greenville, NC, Nettie Scott of Princeton, NC, Betty Woodard and husband Mark of Shallotte, NC, Alvie Childers and wife Kathy, of Shallotte, NC, Mark Childers and wife Tonya of Zebulon, NC, Georgia Himmel of Selma, and Matthew Childers and wife Nikki of Kenly; and many nieces and nephews.
