Smithfield – Dorothy S. Parrish, age 99, passed away Friday June 30, 2023 at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Johnston County on May 1, 1924 to the late Hugh Leonard Sellers Sr., and Ethel Siler Sellers. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, James "Champ" Parrish; brother, Hugh L. Sellers Jr.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Thursday July 6, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home following the visitation on Thursday at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Hills of the Neuse Memory Gardens.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Carol Becker and husband Reiner of Smithfield; granddaughter, Julie Sabatino and husband Eric of La Plata, MD; great grandson, Luca Sabatino of La Plata, MD.

Dorothy was a member of Unity FWB Church in Smithfield and loved to cook, work in her garden, and was an excellent seamstress.
