Dorothy Lee Mitchell, 69, passed away September 29, 2024 at her home in Selma. She was born on November 3, 1954, in Edgecombe County to the late Reverend Cecil Abernathy and Ora Lee Abernathy. Dorothy was a self-less, humble woman who always put others before herself. She was devoted to her family, and was a cherished Wife, Mother, and Grandmother. Dorothy was adventurous, and enjoyed both lighthouses at the beach and the mountains. She enjoyed music; playing piano and listening to Gospel. Dorothy attended Steven's Chapel for over a decade and loved the Lord.

The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 1:00PM, with Rev. Marvin Ownley and Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating. Burial will follow in Aycock Family Cemetery.

Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 51 years; James Mitchell; daughter; Jamie Narron of Stancil's Chapel; son; Joey Mitchell (Amanda) of Selma; grandchildren; Cecile Otto-Meyer (D'Artagnan), Joshua Narron, Brantley Mitchell, Caroline Mitchell; and many other loved ones and close friends.
