Sunday, October 27, 2024, Dorothy Brown Barnes Brewer, 96, of Princeton, surrounded by her family, left this earth to walk the streets of gold with her Lord and Savior. She was born in Johnston County on July 4, 1928 to the late Clyde Vernon Brown and Mattie Irene Hinnant Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Walter (Skeet) Barnes and Martin Brewer, daughter, Susan Barnes Smith, son-in-law Jerry Beasley, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

She was the best mama, grandma, nanny, and friend that anyone could ask for. She always had a kind and encouraging word for anyone she met and she loved everyone. To know her was to love her. She was a spirited lady for 96 and was sharp as a tack until the last few months of her life. She loved reading, doing word finds, crocheting and especially spending time with her family.

Survivors include 3 children, Jimmy Barnes (Margie) of Virginia Beach, Darlene Barnes Norris (Garry) of Princeton and Betsy Barnes Beasley of Princeton; 9 grandchildren, Jim Barnes II, Tammy Tyson, Jeff Daughtry, Alan Barnes, Jennifer McLeod, David Smith, Toni Larsen, Shawn Barnes and Zach Beasley; 18 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren; four step children, Sylvia Brewer Scholl, Harold Brewer, Darrel Brewer and Keith Brewer; brother, Leroy Brown; sisters, Alice Benson and Rita Norris.
