Smithfield - Doris Johnson Parrish, 79, of Freedom Road died Sunday. Born in Johnston County on December 25, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Jerry Clarence and Sallie Wright Johnson. Doris was the widow of Lt. Colonel Charles Douglas Parrish, who died in 1986. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church, with Rev. Scott Casey, Rev. Lee Colbert, and Rev. Vann Spivey officiating. Burial will be private. Surviving are: son; Jerry Douglas Parrish and wife, Melody of Burleson, TX; daughters, Sylvia Seiden and husband Steve of Stafford, VA, Pamela Morris and husband Andy of Cumming, GA, Patty Parrish Bondor of Clayton, NC; brothers, Ben Johnson of Smithfield, Erwin Johnson and wife Evelyn of Raleigh, Bo Johnson of Four Oaks; sister, Dinah McLamb and husband T. G. of Benson; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren. Mrs. Parrish was also preceded in death by a sister, Betty Marcellus, and a brother, Tommy Johnson.The family will receive friends at Underwood Funeral Home in Smithfield from 7 until 9 PM Tuesday.
