Dennis James House went home to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his family and friends on Friday, August 14th, 2026. Dennis was born in Wilson County, North Carolina on September 1st, 1956 to the late James House and Velma Jeanettie House (Daughtry).
From an early age Dennis was taught to be a hard worker. Dennis was raised in Johnston County, North Carolina on a farm in the town of Micro as a share cropper where he spent most of his early years growing tobacco or as he liked to call it “barning baccer”. He went on to work a career as a maintenance technician in the pharmaceutical industries until he retired in 2023. When he was not working you could find him on the water bass fishing with his son, spending time with his granddaughter, or mowing the lawn on a beautiful sunny day. Dennis was the kindest, caring, and most giving person who never met a stranger and always made you feel welcome. It did not matter what your name was, he was always going to call you “Shug”.
Dennis was the best father, papa, and friend. He will live on forever in the memories that we have shared together. Along with his mother and father Dennis was preceded by his brother Phillip Ray House, his baby sister Janey House Lane, and his jack russell “Biscuit”.
Dennis is survived by his son CJ House (Nikki), granddaughter Alli House, sister Elise House Atkinson “Sis” (David) and many other loved and cherished nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21st, 2026 at Parrish Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 22nd, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home followed by burial in Micro Memorial Gardens. The service will be officiated by Pastor Marvin Ownley and Pastor Matthew Spence.
