Selma – Dee F. Kennedy Jr., age 83, went to his heavenly home on Friday February 10, 2023 at Smithfield Manor Rehab. He was born in Johnston County on December 5, 1939 to the late Dee F. Kennedy Sr. and Violet Rogers Kennedy. In addition to his mother and father, he is also preceded in death by wife of 54 years, Doris Earp Kennedy.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Monday February 13, 2023 from 6 PM to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Tuesday February 14, 2023 at 11 AM. Burial will follow the service in Selma Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by his daughter, Tracey Taylor and husband Tim of Selma; son, Robbie Kennedy and wife Kathy of Selma; grandchildren, DeEtt Taylor and Casey Taylor; brother in law, James Earp of Four Oaks; sister in law, Verna Kennedy of Oklahoma; brother, Roy Kennedy and wife Connie of Leland; numerous nieces and nephews who called him "Uncle Gene".

Dee was a member of West Calvary FWB Church in Smithfield. He was the retired owner and operator of T & R Construction. He spent may years on the softball field as an umpire or coaching the Misfits softball team.
