Selma – Charles Edward "Ed" Carter, age 86, died Tuesday afternoon in Johnston UNC Health.  Born June 5, 1933 in Johnston County to the late Charlie Andrew and Lanie Blackman Carter, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Helen Hamilton.  Ed was employed with the Griggs Equipment Company for 25 years and later worked with Brown's Dairy for 24 years.  He was a member of Niagara Pentecostal Holiness Church for more than 20 years.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Dye and the Rev. Margaret Britt officiating.  Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.

Surviving are his wife, Velma Rose Carter, sister, Hazel Carter Sykes of Selma; niece, Vicky Evans and husband Daniel of Smithfield and nephew, Albert Sykes and wife Gloria of Selma.
