Smithfield- Catherine Elaine Oliver Wilder, age 49, passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2022, at UNC Johnston Health. Born on November 2, 1972, she was a daughter to Frank Oliver and Debra Dillon.

Cathy worked as a Med Tech at Meadow View Assisted Living Center in Smithfield, where she loved both her job and her residents. Those who knew her jokingly said that she never came out of the 80s.  She was a very kind-hearted person who knew how to make people laugh and never met a stranger. She married her best friend, Sam Wilder and was said to have always had his back for 20 years. Cathy loved her kids dearly and was a great mom.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm, just before the service.

In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her sister, Jennifer Oliver Kent.

Cathy is survived by her husband, Samuel Granville Wilder III of Smithfield; son, Bradley William Brown and wife Ashley of Selma; daughter, Sarah Ann Brown and husband David of Micro; 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, stepsons, Gary Yallborough of Clayton; Deshawn Tendall of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; stepdaughter, Camilla Williams of Clayton; best friend, Tina Watson of Smithfield, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
