Carolyn Killette Torres of Smithfield, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Hospice House in Smithfield. Carolyn Rand Killette was born to Alvin Butler Killette and Lilly Rose Horn on August 9, 1931, in Fremont,

NC. Carolyn was called "Moma" by her children. She is survived by her sister Billy Jean Wall, her daughter, Nanci Howell Conway, and her son, Joseph Neil Howell (spouse Sandy). Michael Rand Howell proceeded Carolyn in death and is survived by his spouse Brenda and her children Crystal Sharp and Les Perry. Carolyn is also survived by two grandchildren, Karen Elizabeth Massengale (Jason) and David Ben-Joseph Howell. She was affectionately known as Gigi (gee-gee) by her great-grandchildren, Jack Robison (Maliah), Abbi Onnen (Jaylin), and Isaac Robison. Freya and Asher
Robison are her great-great grandkids. When she married Ray Torres she gained a step-son Daniel Torres, grandson Brandon (Crystal) and great-grandkids Tyler and Brianna.
Carolyn had a passion for teaching and completed her BA in English at Atlantic Christian College in 1964. She taught English at Lee Woodard High, North Johnston High, Smithfield-Selma High, Johnston Community College, Wayne Community College, Trinity Christian Assembly, and Raleigh Christian Community. She retired from teaching at eighty-three. She was a youth director and Sunday school teacher for many years and loved to
teach the Bible. She was ordained through the Assemblies of God Church. Her favorite verse was Romans 8:28. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose."

The Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Parrish Funeral
