Carolyn Rogerson
Scott
Mar 29, 1945 — Oct 2, 2026
Kenly
Carolyn Rogerson Scott, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family on October 2, 2026. She was 81 years old.
Carolyn was born on March 29, 1945, in Johnston County, North Carolina, to Jeff and Estelle Rogerson. She spent most of her life in Kenly, North Carolina, where she built a beautiful life filled with love, family, friendship, faith, and countless memories.
Carolyn met the love of her life, Elbert Wayne Scott, while they were in high school. It was love at first sight. The two were high school sweethearts and married shortly after graduating. For 63 years, Carolyn and Wayne shared a deep and enduring love. They were rarely seen apart and were affectionately known as being “two peas in a pod.” Their love and devotion to one another was an example to everyone who knew them.
Carolyn spent many years working for BB&T, now known as Truist, where she made lifelong friendships that continued long after her retirement. She was a woman who never met a stranger. With her outgoing and bubbly personality, Carolyn could strike up a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Her infectious laugh and loving spirit made people feel welcome and cared for wherever she went.
Her faith was an important part of her life. Carolyn was an active member of Kenly Missionary Baptist Church, where she found great joy in serving others. She especially loved taking flowers to elderly shut-ins and to people who simply needed a little encouragement or a pick-me-up. She had a gift for making people feel remembered, loved, and cared for.
Carolyn had a deep love for flowers and gardening and was blessed with an extraordinary green thumb. Her family often joked that she could “stick a tire in the ground and grow a car.” She loved watching things grow and bringing beauty into the world around her. She also enjoyed painting, decorating, making wreaths, and creating beautiful things with her hands.
She was also famous among her family for her incredible Southern cooking. Carolyn had a special way of making anything taste good, and many of her meals became treasured memories for the people she loved.
Above all else, Carolyn was a woman who loved her family fiercely. She was always willing to help anyone who needed her and would give as much as she could to make someone else's life a little better. To her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she was affectionately known as “Mama.” She taught them lessons they will carry with them for the rest of their lives: to love others, to love God, to be strong-minded, and never to be afraid to stand up for what they believe in.
Carolyn leaves behind her beloved husband of 63 years, Elbert Wayne Scott; her two children, Lisa Rogers and Anthony Scott and his wife, Edie Scott; five grandchildren, Michael, Brandon, Megan, Kellie, and Tripp; and many beloved great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind countless friends, loved ones, and members of her community whose lives were touched by her kindness, laughter, generosity, and love.
Carolyn will be remembered for her beautiful gardens, her warm smile, her infectious laugh, her delicious cooking, her generous heart, and most of all, the love she gave so freely to everyone around her. She never hesitated to lend a helping hand, brighten someone's day, or remind those she loved to have faith and stand strong.
Her passing leaves a tremendous hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she will be deeply missed, her love, lessons, laughter, and memories will live on through the family and friends she cherished so dearly.
At Carolyn's request, there will be no formal funeral service. The family will receive friends and family between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p .m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Carolyn's memory to Kenly Missionary Baptist Church.
