Selma – Billy Ray Hines was called home to be with the Lord of February 14, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his family and loved ones. Born on August 11, 1956 to the late Minnie Sasser Hines and Robert Daniel Hines. He is preceded in by sisters, Mary Tempie Hines, Betty Lou Maguire, Patsy Hines, Josephine Hines; brothers, Franklin Hines, Donnie Lee Hines, Daniel Bryant Hines.

A funeral service will be held in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Sunday February 20, 2022 at 2 PM with Rev. Gene Dewitt officiating. Burial will follow the service in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Saturday February 19, 2022 from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Billy had a heart full of gold and would do anything for anyone. He worked as a waiter at Denny's for 15 years and had many loyal customers. He enjoyed drinking coffee, watching wrestling and cooking. Family loved to visit Billy's everyday and referred to it as "the local coffee shop" He was a loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He is survived by a brother, Ronnie Hines of Pine Level; sisters, Gertrude Raynor of Goldsboro, Faye Brown of Smithfield and Linda Pearce of Selma; special niece, Lisa Pilkington, that helped him during his longtime illness; several nieces and nephews.
