Billy Broughton was born in the city of Selma in Johnston County, NC. Billy is preceded in death by his parents; Charlie Earvin Broughton and Naomi Jane Eason Broughton, grandparents, brother Bobby Earl Broughton, sister Patricia B. Harris and husband Tom Harris.

Billy is survived by his siblings; Carol Britt of Florence SC, brother, David Lee Broughton and wife Burley of Pine Level NC, brother, Johnnie Broughton and wife Liz of SC, sister, Brenda Tillery of Tarboro NC, and brother, James Broughton and wife Teresa of Lucama NC.

Also surviving Billy are his children; daughter, Karen Sue Olive and husband Marc of Clayton NC, his son, Anthony Ray Broughton of Selma NC, his son, Steven (Tinker) Broughton of Las Vegas NV, and his daughters, Sara, and Vanessa of Garner NC; grandchildren, Cody and Taylor Olive of Clayton NC.

Billy resided in Tarboro NC for the last 5 years, where his sister Brenda, niece, Rebekah and husband Michael Griffin, and his niece, Ashley Fox became his caregivers. He loved his special cousin, Patsy Daughtry and her husband Tom, his church family, and all his nieces and nephews.

Billy worked and retired from WakeMed hospital after 25 years of service as a maintenance technician. Billy was a very quiet, kind, humble, and prideful man. He kept to himself and spent his free time doing carpentry and working as a mechanic. He loved to work with his hands and stay busy. If you needed a helping hand, Billy was always there to help in any way he could. His favorite saying was "I'm fine" or "It's fine". When asked if he was ready to go, he would always say "I'm riding with you" or "Pat and Charlie will get me there". He loved spaghetti with meat sauce and Wendy's chili. He was a family man and loved going to church at the Tarboro Church of God. Billy was also a huge Elvis Presley fan and loved his sideburns.
