Selma – Betty Lynne Hales Rice, age 56, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024, in her home of Selma, surrounded by her loved ones. Born, September 26, 1967, in Johnston County, she was a daughter of Jimmy Lee Hales and Betty Woodard Hales. She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Woodard Hales and her step father, Marshall E. Hales. Lynne attended church at Branch Chapel FWB Church in Selma. She was a very loving and caring person. Lynne loved her niece and nephew as well as the rest of her family. She was an excellent cook and baker. Lynne enjoyed reading and traveling when she was able to. She had a passion for taking care of others. Lynne will be missed greatly by all her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in Price Cemetery in Selma. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

She is survived by her father, Jimmy Lee Hales of Green Sea, SC, husband, Shane Rice of the home, sister, Tammy Lienenkaemper (Ralf) of Selma, brother, Jimmy Hales (Judy) of Sims, nephew, Brandon Jones, niece Brittany Hales (Triston Norris),step-sister, Shari Wood and Stuart Taylor of Wendell as well as many other family members and friends.
