Bette Johnson Daughtry, age 88, died Thursday morning, December 22, 2022 in the SECU Hospice House.  Born November 21, 1934 in Johnston County to the late William Leon and Alice Gordon Johnson, she was the widow of Frank Wilson Daughtry and was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Lynn Statkus, William "Bill" Johnson and Jean Williford. Bette was a member of Sanders Chapel United Methodist Church until she was no longer physically able to attend.  For several years in the 70's she worked as a secretary/bookkeeper with Smithfield Elementary School and later ran a daycare in her home during the 1980's and 90's.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022 in Sunset Memorial Park.

Surviving are her sons, Wilson Daughtry and his wife Debbie of Engelhard, William David Daughtry and his wife Wendy of Selma and Allan Daughtry and his wife Alisa of Smithfield; daughter, Suzanne Foy and her husband Jeff of Smithfield; eight grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the SECU Hospice House, c/o Johnston Health Foundation, PO Box 1376, Smithfield, NC  27577.
