Smithfield – Bessie Peedin Creech, age 84, passed away Monday October 30, 2023 in Raleigh, NC. She was born in Johnston County on September 24, 1939 to the late William Gray Peedin and Rena Worley Peedin. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby R. Creech Sr.; brother, Billy Peedin; sister, Jessie Creech.

The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Sunday November 5, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will be conducted in the chapel of Parrish Funeral home at 2:00 PM on Sunday following the visit. Burial will follow the service in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield.

She is survived by a son, Bobby R. Creech Jr. of Durham; daughter, Regina Creech Lasco and husband Craig of Ellicott City, MD; sister, Linda Peedin of Selma; grandchildren, Will and Audrey Lasco.

She was a member of Parrish Memorial Baptist Church in Selma. Bessie enjoyed being outside tending to her yard and flowers. She loved bird watching, especially the hummingbirds who visited her window feeders.

Bessie frequently visited her grandchildren in Maryland. She would take the train up and stay several weeks at a time. She enjoyed watching her grandson play ice hockey and granddaughter play soccer. She hosted many family holiday meals, going overboard with desserts! Bessie loved her family and they loved her and they will miss her dearly.
