Selma – Bertha "Edith" Brady Johnson, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. She was born on April 7, 1936, in Johnston County to the late Charlie and Ethel Jones. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Brady Jr. and her late husband, Edgar A. Johnson Sr. as well as all of her siblings. Edith was a member of Riverside Baptist Church in Kenly. She was a very talented seamstress and a very independent lady. She will be greatly missed by many.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the burial to follow in Bizzell Grove Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m.

She is survived by her stepchildren; Vera Johnson Wright (David) of Garner, Deborah Johnson Summerlin (Tony) of Rocky Mount, Wanda Johnson of Kenly, Edgar A. Johnson Jr. (JoAnne) of Kenly, and James Johnson (Roxann) of Kenly; numerous step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her caregiver and nephew Billy Jones of Smithfield. She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
