Barbara Adams Overby, age 76, of Garner, passed away on April 27, 2023. Born in Johnston County on December 13.1946, she was the daughter of the late Milton Alfred and Mildred Gertrude Adams. Barbara had 1 older brother, Jerry Adams, and 1 younger brother, Milton Adams Jr.

Barbara graduated from Four Oaks School in 1965. During high school, she played on the basketball team, sang in the Glee Club, acted in plays, and participated in Ensemble. Barbara worked for many years at Data General in Clayton, NC.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jerry. Surviving is her daughter Sonya Overby Walsh (husband Robert), and sons Donnie Craig Overby (wife Delores), and William Chad Overby (fiance Ginnie). Barbara is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Christopher Bradley Pollard, Casey Blake Pollard, Jessica Denise Overby, and Laura Grace Overby. She also has 3 great grandchildren.

The family extends a special Thank You to Barbara's caregivers at Johnston Health and Clayton Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, both of Clayton.

Barbara will lie in repose at Underwood Funeral Home in Smithfield on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 1-5 pm. The family will celebrate Barbara's life during a family graveside service the following day.
