Barbara Erdman Gardner, age 84, of Smithfield, NC passed away in the early morning hours of December 14, 2023.

Barbara was born on January 16, 1939 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Charles Edward and Eugenia Erdman. Shortly after graduating from Towson Catholic High School, she met and married the love of her life, the late Robert (Bob) Gardner. Together they raised 5 children. She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, and reading books.

Barbara is survived by her children, Karen Gardner of Keedysville, MD, Robert Gardner II (Sabra) of Chantilly, VA, Michael Gardner of Smithfield, NC, Matthew Gardner (Shelley) of Smithfield, NC and Sean Gardner (Amy) of Manassas, VA; grandchildren Kaitlyn Piland, Zaquan Sanders, Jacob Gardner, Cannon Gardner (Hannah); Dawson Gardner, Cameron Piland, & Matthew Gardner. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, James Geraghty, husband of Karen.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 29, 2023 at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church Smithfield. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am, prior to the service. Reverend Kristen Tucker will officiate the service.
