Barbara Williams Clapp, age 84, passed away on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at her home in Smithfield, surrounded by her family. Born in Johnston County on February 9, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Williams and Alleane Ferrell Williams. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jimmy Clapp Sr.

Barbara is survived by her son, Jimmy Clapp Jr., and his wife Debbie of Morehead City; her daughter, Kim Stanfield of Smithfield; her brother, Marvin Williams of Knightdale; her sister, Judy Broadwell of Smithfield; her grandchildren, Ashley Clapp, Joshua Clapp, Kortland Thornton (Matthew), and Kody Stanfield; and her great-granddaughter, Remington Thornton.

Barbara was a founding member of West Calvary FWB Church in Smithfield, where she dedicated over 60 years of service to her faith and community. Her life was a testament to her commitment to leading others to Christ. She worked for many years as an office administrative secretary with Johnston County Schools, and a scholarship in her honor continues to support students today.

The family will receive visitors at Parrish Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held at West Calvary FWB Church in Smithfield on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with burial to follow at Knollwood Memorial Park.
