Ann Bettis Waters, age 82, of Selma, NC, passed away peacefully in the SECU Hospice House of Smithfield on June 24, 2025. Ann was born in Johnston County, in 1942 to the late Howard Bettis and Thelma Lynch Bettis. She is preceded in death by her son, Julius Andrew "AJ" Johnson.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Katherine J. Ogburn and husband James S. Ogburn as well as nieces; Heather Tinsley and Stephanie Winborne. Ann is also survived by her longstanding friend and companion, John Howery.

Ann was a believer in Jesus Christ and was confident she would be in communion with Christ, Howard, Thelma & AJ upon her passing.

A celebration of life service will be held at Divine Crossings Baptist Church, 440 Little Devine Rd. Selma, NC 2757,) on July 13, 2025, at 10:30 am. All are welcome to attend.
