Ann S. King, eldest daughter of the late Melvin and Hazel Carter of Johnston County, passed away peacefully and painlessly on Good Friday. Ann was 96 years young and was preceded in death by seven brothers, Graham, Bill, Charles, J.M., Bobby, Melvin and Jimmy;as well as, one sister, Dorothy Dale. She is survived by one remaining sister, Susie C. Wade and Robin Parrish (Dale).

Ann retired from Meredith College after 30 years of service at 90 years of age and received numerous awards for her customer service and dedication to her job.

Ann lived the last three years at Addison Assisted Living Facility in Knightdale, NC where Lavette, Sarah, Marissa, and Bre took care of her daily needs and kept the family updated. The family is thankful and appreciative for these four.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Crocker Cemetery in Selma, where she will be laid to rest.

Ann was a strong, willful, and independent woman with a desire to do all things to the best of her ability. She often talked about joining her mother in heaven and declared "What a wonderful day that would be."

Rest easy, Ann, you are home!
