Selma – Alma Gay Eason Childers, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday January 12, 2024 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. She was born in Johnston County on December 2, 1934 to the late AV Eason and Neppie Lewis Eason. In addition to her father and mother, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Childers Jr.; sisters, Edith Lee and Patsy Barefoot; brother, Grady Eason.
The family will receive visitors in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home on Saturday January 20, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in Branch Chapel Church on Sunday January 21, 2024 at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow the service on Sunday in the Church Cemetery.
She is survived by daughters, Ellen June Farrar of Greenville, Nettie Scott and husband William of Princeton , Betty Woodard and husband Mark of Shallotte, Georgia Himmel and husband Mike of Zebulon, Annette Childers of Selma; sons, Alvie Childers III and wife Kathi of Shallotte, Matthew Childers and wife Nickie of Kenly, Mark Childers and wife Tonya of Zebulon; sisters, Letha Parrish of Zebulon, Betty Lou Hill of Clayton, Teresa Shrum of Pine Level; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; the Wadsworth Family and Branch Chapel Church Family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the SECU Hospice House Johnston Health Foundation PO Box 1376 Smithfield, NC 27577 Attn: Hospice Fund.
