Ramond Edwin "Ed" Pittman

February 16, 1926 - April 29, 2012

Selma- Ramond Edwin Pittman went to be with Jesus Sunday, April 29th, 2012 after a long illness. Ed was born February 16th, 1926 to Minnie and James Arthur Pittman. He is preceded in death by his parents, his loving and special wife Pete, his brothers Ishmael, Kenneth, Odell and M.C., his sisters Rudean, Hazel, Inez, and Mary and his faithful companion Pepper. He is survived by daughters Hope (Steve) Jackson, Joy (Byron) Frye, granddaughter Lori (Kenneth) Barnes and great grandchildren Brandon and Cory Barnes. He has many special friends, nieces and nephews and loved them all greatly especially Miss. Carol Hocutt. He served in the U.S. Navy, served on Shoeheel Volunteer Fire Department, farmed for many years and then worked at Sylvania and retired from Channel Master. He was an avid fisherman and loved to fish the Outer Banks. He mastered many musical instruments including guitar, banjo, and autoharp and taught many young men how to play. He was a long time member of Bethany Missionary Baptist Church. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Bethany Missionary Baptist Church Building Fund or the SPARK Unit at Barbour Court. The family would also like to thank his special caregivers who helped to make his last few months a little better: Debra, Mary, Rachel, Annie, Sheila, Terri, Tracy, Pearl, Beverly, Bonnie, Lindy, Angie, Linda, Barbara and many others. Thank you all so much.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Arant officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma.
