Odell Foster, 86, of Brown’s Dairy Road near Selma died on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. Born in Johnston County on May 28, 1925, he was the son of the late Noah and Chanie Foster. Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Boyette Foster. In his earlier years, Mr. Foster was an active member of Pleasant Plain Free Will Baptist Church, serving as deacon, financial secretary, Church Clerk and served on the Board of Trustees and Building Committee. He was currently an active member of Selma Original Free Will Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and usher. Mr. Foster served in the US Army during World War II and was a member of Selma American Legion Post 141.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 am in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with Rev. Buddy Sasser and Rev. Frank Grubbs officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in Selma Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 10 – 11 am.
Surviving are his daughters, Teresa Foster, Joy Vaughn and husband Steve, Susan Godwin and husband Eric, all of Selma; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
