James H. Raynor

On March 8, 2010, James Herbert Raynor of Micro went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. Mr. Raynor will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends. James, better known as "Big Daddy" to his grandchildren, farmed and worked on cars for many years. He was well-known for his delicious watermelons that he grew each summer. Mr. Raynor was a member of Parrish Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. His lessons inspired and touched many of his students over the years. One of his favorite things to do was to go fishing. Mr. Raynor loved to spend a day out on the boat with his sons and grandsons.
James was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Sallie Hill Raynor; a son, Charles Emory "Putter" Raynor; and a granddaughter, Patty Lynne Narron.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM in Parrish Memorial Baptist Church with burial following in the cemetery at Sanders Chapel Methodist Church.
Surviving are: his wife of 67 years, Lucille Peedin Raynor; son, James "Lebo" Raynor and wife Jean of Selma; daughter, Patricia Narron and husband Tommy of Wilson's Mills; daughter, Gail Woodard and husband Jerry of Smithfield; son, Richard Raynor and wife Janice of Wilson's Mills; daughter, Billie Bryant and husband Ray of Fuquay-Varina; son, Harvey Raynor and Faye Poole of Princeton; daughter, Gaye Renfrow and husband Hilton of Garner; seventeen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Parrish Funeral Home in Selma Wednesday beginning at 6:00 PM.
